Qualifying Sessions (QC)
Transferring Lawyers are required to attend a number of qualifying sessions (formally know as dining) within the first few years of Call to the Bar. Any such requirements would be set out in correspondence from the Bar Standards Board.
From the end of November 2012, Tranferring Lawyers will be able to book and pay online for most Qualifying Sessions [QSs] held at the Inn. The online booking system will also allow members to view a list of future sessions which have been booked as well as a history of previously attended QSs.
Login details
Transferring Lawyers will require the following to book online:
- Your membership number (which can be found on your membership card), and
- Your password (which the Education Department will be sending to you by email)
It is important that you keep your password and membership card in a safe place for logging in and that you have your membership card with you whenever you are at the Inn. You may be asked to produce it at any time by a member of staff. Your membership number is unique to you and should not be used by anyone else.
Booking opening and closing dates
If you have not yet been Called to the Bar, there is a specific window of time for each of the four terms during which QSs may be booked.
The Qualifying Session Calendar plus opening and closing dates for booking can be found here.
Following Call to the Bar, we must receive your booking at least four clear working days before the event but would recommend you book early. Within first three years of call you are charged at student rates.

Please note: not all qualifying sessions can be booked online
Other ways to book
Students and other members of Hall may continue to book events by submitting, along with payment, a hard copy booking form. As soon as possible, online booking will be made available to all members of Hall, but until further notice, students alone may use the online booking system.
Forms can be collected in person from the Education Department or downloaded here.
